Description

The GS-4 has been used to tow the named train such as the "Morning Daylight" express train that claim to be the most beautiful train in the world that is known for Southern Pacific Railroad. The maximum speed was a locomotive capable of producing 177 km/h, but the maximum speed is limited to 121 km/h, and the 18-car Daylight model runs an average speed of 113 km/h. Some engines of the GS-4 were painted black during and after war years, but in 1948, all were repainted with Daylight paint. While most locomotive were painted black again and used to tow cargo trains, etc., in 1958, all locomotive retireed. The car number #4445 is the Postwar Black that was intended to tow cargo in late years.
