At the age of 20, he began living as a hidden master in the cave of Subiaco, and gathered many disciples with a spirit that emphasizes the wisdom, thoughtfulness, regularity and compassion of Benedicts mind and attention to others. Benedict failed them to twelve organizations and twelve monasteries, ca. 530, moved to Monte Cassino to build a monastery in 547.
