Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has upgraded the Playstation Portable (PSPR), known for its wide range of entertainment content like games with realistic video and audio, and enhanced it with the PSP-3000, which has been offered in Japan, Asia, North America, and Europe since October 2008.
This new version of the PSPR (PSP-3000) follows the weight, size, and basic functionality of its predecessor, the PSP-2000, which was designed for lighter weight and thinness, while adding dramatic improvements in visual quality with its LCD display and an internal microphone to add new opportunities for play, meeting the needs of a diverse range of PSPR players everywhere.
Offering best-in-class contrast, response speed, and color gamut of any portable device, the 4.3 inch large LCD display brings even clearer visuals in its latest incarnation. Reduced glare technology makes the screen easier to see even in bright lighting and out of doors. Use the included microphone with supported game software*1 or with Skype *2 and other communication tools. Game creators can now achieve imagery closer to their original concept, and the microphone functionality is even easier to use, making PSPR content freer and more convenient than ever.
Also includes added output ports for playing the high-quality visuals of the PSPR on your television, as well was game interlacing output. Use the dedicated cable *3 to output your game even to televisions that dont support progressive video input (using analog output), making this PSPR even more convenient.
The main body has evolved for the latest generation of the PSPR and features the classic color of Piano Black, as well as Pearl White and Mystic Silver*4.
In addition to a wide range of software, the PSPR enjoys support from its huge fanbase thanks to its ongoing improvements in functionality, hardware, color variations, and network services. In September 2007, the PSPR was made slimmer, and the platform more universal. By late June 2008, the hardware had sold a total 41M+ units, and it enjoys continued support across Japan and the US.
With the year-end period heating up for lots of competition between new products, SCE has revamped its product with the PSPR (PSP-3000) and is boosting its software lineup and marketing campaigns for each market, bringing more fun PSPR computer entertainment to the world.
