Saint Petersburg in Russia was founded in 1703 and has over 300 years of history. The name of this city is derived from Saint Petel, a disciple of Jesus. Peter I moved the capital to Petersburg in 1712 and was a Russian culture, political and economic center for over 200 years until 1918. Reningrad in 1924 in commemoration of Trainin and renamed to Saint Petersburg in 1991. The monuments and historical centre of Saint Petersburg are registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
