Description

葛飾北斎：宝暦十年（一七六〇）江戸本所に生まれ、十九歳で勝川春章に師事、翌年には春朗と名乗り勝川派の役者絵を発表。その後和漢洋の絵画の各流各派を学び、様々なジャンルの浮世絵を手がけて独自の画風を確立。森羅万象のあらゆるものの真を描くことに執念を燃やし、老いてなおその制作意欲は衰えることなく、九十年の長い生涯で数多くの作品を残す。一九九九年、米ライフ誌が選んだ「この千年で最も重要な功績を残した世界の人物百人」に選ばれた唯一の日本人である。
