When the accelerator is off, the controller reduces the flow of excess fuel and reduces the friction on the engine ("vacuum resistance" the force that the crank pulls down the piston) to reduce fuel consumption and reduce engine vibration. In addition, the increased ram pressure filling efficiency provides excellent power enhancement.
