British engineer Benjamin Robins designed a rotary arm mechanism that is the earliest model of centrifugal separators. In 1864, Antonin Plantle came up with the idea of separating cream from milk using a centrifugal separator. His idea was executed by his brother Alexander Plantle [b], which changed the original design. The plan was improved and eventually proven in 1875 to the practical milk fat extraction machine [1]. This was also the first application of a centrifugal separator.
