~~Istanbul Mehmet~~

Mehmet Tamdeger learned cymbal making from the legendary Cymbal Master Kerope Zilcan in 1950, and Michael taught him all of the ancient art of Turkey, based on history dating back to the early 17th century.

After Michael closed his workshop in 1977, the cymbal workshop was started with trial and error. The cymbal workshop was founded in 1980, and adopted a brand named Istanbul in 1984, which has been said to be the city of high quality cymbal. Their cymbals were first exported to America in 1984.

At that time, both have signed the cymbal created and now the autographed work is a collectors item. After Agop Tomurcuk suddenly died in 1996, Mehmet decided to continue making cymbal with his name, Istanbul Mehmet.

His commitment to handmade cymbal remains unchanged.
Machine has no ears. Thats why Istsnbul Mehmet continues to create cymbals according to the traditional tradition. We look forward to the music created in the present and future...
