「コーナーで差をつけろ! ! 」
「シュンソク」の開発のテーマとして掲げられたこのフレーズには、トラック競技で転倒することの多い子どもたちを、「転ばずに最後まで力いっぱい走らせてあげたい」という、「アキレス」の開発·営業担当の思いがありました。日本の小学校の校庭トラック競技はほとんどが左回りです。そのコーナーでバランスを崩したり転倒したりする子供が多いことに着目した開発担当者は、靴を改良することで何とかならないかと考え、左回りのトラックに特化した「左右非対称ソール」のシューズを思いつきました。コーナーを速く回るために必要なのがソールのグリップ力。それを高められる様に左右非対称のグリップ意匠を施し、さらに軽量設計、ねじれ防止等の機能も搭載しました。当時、ソールの意匠は常識的には左右対称でしたが、その常識をくつがえし、「右足の内側」と「左足の外側」に左右非対称のスパイクを配置したのが「シュンソク」です。晴れの舞台で転んで悔しい思いをすることなく、力を出し切って最後まで走れるように…という願いを込めて作られた「シュンソク」は、子どもたちの「速く走りたい! 」という気持ちを応援しています。
