PVA sponges have properties that harden when dry, but they are not quality abnormalities. It becomes a flexible sponge when filled with moisture.
The sponge has excellent water absorption capacity (approx. 1.2 gal (4 L) per piece) so you can easily repair the puddles of grounds and coats after the rain.
