Asao is a cord-like product made from the fibers of plants such as flax and ramie (a shrub native to East Asia). Since ancient times it has been used for Shinto purification rituals and is regarded as a holy item symbolizing vitality.We recommend using it for the various Shinto rituals it is involved with, such as the mounting of shimenawa (sacred rice-straw ropes) and the arrangement of food and alcohol offerings to the gods.This product is made from real top-quality flax from Yasu, Japan.---
