Description:
The center of the lathe is a tool that is ground to the point for precise placement of the workpiece on the axis. It has a 60° angle. The main use of the center is to ensure that the concentric work is done in place. This allows you to transfer workpieces between machining tasks without compromising accuracy. Parts can be rotated with a lathe, sending for hardening and tempering, then grinding between the center of a cylindrical grinder. The center is also used to support long workpieces that cause the cutting force to overdeflect the work and reduce the finish and accuracy of the workpiece.
