Description

In 1920, William H. Dennis Canadas Senate set a new yacht race and provided a large silver winning cup. This is the beginning of the International Fishermans Trophy. The first winner was a New England boat and made the Canadian a lot disappointed. For that reason, the Senate of Dennis decided to design a fundraiser, young boat technician, William J Luhe, who created a winning boat and return the trophy to Canada. Construction work began immediately, a 285 ton sooener with amazing curves, launched in May 1921, and named Blue Nose. Almost all of the blue nose are made from locally sourced wood such as oak, spruce, birch and pine, except for the Oregon pine used for the masts. Blue Nose won in the 2nd Fishermans Trophy in the fall 1921 and later won all races every year to be the legend of Canada. Also used for commemorative stamps and coins are often used as illustrations.
